– Safety for playgrounds and sports facilities according to DIN EN 1176

Playgrounds must always be inspected by the person who is the operator of the facility. This means:

• Cities and municipalities (public playgrounds)

• Daycare centers and providers (church, municipality, free providers)

• Schools and school providers

• Housing companies and landlords (playgrounds in residential areas)

• Private operators such as hotels, campsites, leisure facilities

• Associations or church institutions, if they provide playgrounds

The operator has full responsibility for safety and regular inspections.

1. Visual routine inspection (by operator)

Typical contents: Cleanliness, obvious damage, ground clearance, exposed foundations, missing parts.

2. Operational inspection (function test)

➡️ every 1-3 months

Scope of inspection: Functionality, stability, incipient wear, movable parts, impact protection surface.

3. Annual main inspection

➡️ 1x per year

Goal: Overall condition, structural safety, effects of weather, aging, vandalism.

4. Inspection after installation / significant changes

➡️ one-time before commissioning / after conversions

Sports and movement areas

• Basketball courts and multi-sport courts
